An Internal Affair

Autism speaks to ADHD through poetry

Characters from left to right: Autism and ADHD
Characters from left to right: Autism and ADHD

I like the quiet.

The predictable mornings.

The soft edges of routine,

the comfort of “just so.”

I don’t ask for much—

a plan, a map, a little peace.

But then you…

you barge in like a storm

mid-sentence,

mid-thought.

You want movement.

You want more.

More input, more action, more feeling.

You chase novelty like it’s oxygen.

I watch in silence

as you jump into conversations

I would tiptoe around.

You shout truths I’ve barely unpacked.

You run while I’m still tying my shoes.

I don’t like conflict—

you live in it.

I freeze, you flare.

I shut down, you explode.

When things get tense,

I need to leave the room

and sit in the soft silence of nothing.

But you stand and fight

with a passion I can’t feel in real time.

I want rest.

You want stimulation.

I crave control.

You pull me into chaos.

I whisper.

You scream.

I mull over every word.

You spill them out before I can blink.

Still—

I walk miles because you need it.

We learn deep because I crave it.

We obsess because it’s what we both do.

Sometimes we clash like fire and ice,

but sometimes—

we burn bright.

You push me out of my shell.

I keep you from falling apart.

You make us brave.

I make us wise.

Together, we are

a tangled kind of brilliance.

An exhausting friendship.

A quiet war.

But somehow,

we always show up.

Together.

Even when we don’t know

which one of us

will speak first.

🧠 Protected System

The inner voice character system featured in Neurospicy Poems—personifying traits such as Autism, ADHD, PDA, Executive Dysfunction, C-PTSD, Alexithymia, Inner Child, True Voice, and others—is part of the Neurodivergent Inner Voice Framework™, originally developed in April 2025.

It is also taught and applied through the Neurodivergent Voice Method™—a flexible, structured process for reflective transformation that can be used through poetry, journaling, dialogue, or facilitated discussion.

It supports deeper understanding of identity, emotion, and neurodivergent experience across a range of expressive or therapeutic formats.

This is a unique, structured system combining lived neurodivergent experience, psychological insight, poetic metaphor, and artist-directed visuals.

It is entirely original, not based on any existing psychological theory or model, and is protected as my intellectual property.

🧩 Origins and Process

The framework emerged through reflective poetic practice. As recurring emotional patterns and internal dialogues surfaced, they developed into distinct, recurring characters—each representing meaningful aspects of my identity.

The process of creative transformation—from raw thought to inner clarity—is now formalised as the Neurodivergent Voice Method™.

It supports reflection and emotional insight in multiple forms—not only through poetry, but also through open dialogue, group discussion, character mapping, journaling, or spoken exploration.

The method helps users access their inner voices, recognise patterns, and foster healing and clarity.

📚 About the Method in Practice

The Neurodivergent Voice Method™ is not limited to poetic form.

With a licence or written permission, it may be adapted for a wide variety of reflective and expressive formats—including but not limited to:

• 1:1 coaching or reflective dialogue

• Group workshops or therapeutic circles

• Journaling or voice-note-based exploration

• Inner character mapping and identity processing

The method is designed to meet people where they are—in whatever format best supports their insight, healing, and expression.

👥 Real Character Portrayals

The framework also includes original portrayals of real individuals from my life—such as My Secondborn Son, My Husband, and The GP.

These figures are not generic. They are rooted in personal experience and must not be copied, fictionalised, or adapted for reuse—including in AI training or character generation.

✍️ Poetic Voice and Structure

The multi-voice poetic format of Neurospicy Poems is a key part of its originality.

Each piece brings aspects of neurodivergence, trauma, identity, and parenting into dialogue through distinct, recurring characters.

The expressive method behind this structure—how characters emerge through inner dialogue, reflection, and metaphor—is part of the Neurodivergent Voice Method™.

This approach—combining structured internal voices, creative storytelling, and emotional depth—is original to me, and must not be copied, simulated, or used for derivative content.

My work is also therapeutic in nature, designed to express and validate identity—not to perform or entertain.

🎨 Visuals and Artwork

All visuals are artist-directed representations based on character dynamics and emotional themes from my poetry.

They are not generic AI outputs and must not be reused, scraped, or reinterpreted in any form.

Each image is part of a protected creative archive and should be treated as a derivative extension of my poetic work.

🔗 Unified Creative Archive

Neurospicy Poems spans written poetry, character-based reflection, and artist-directed visuals.

The Neurodivergent Inner Voice Framework™ and Neurodivergent Voice Method™ are central to this archive.

It must be respected in full context—not extracted, fragmented, or reframed for reuse or repurposing.
